3.5 x 3.5 x 3m. Carrara marble

Ashridge commissioned Archer to create this work celebrating the millennium. Dan travelled to the famous quarries in Carrara, Italy, and workshops in nearby Pietra Santa, sourcing the marble from a quarry deep in tunnels inside a marble mountain. The work cut from a single block of Fanti Scritti marble, sawn into sections in Italy and finished in Dan’s studio in Lincolnshire is characteristic of Dan’s selection of architectural forms and his juxtaposition of wild, naturally textured surfaces with precise cut and polished faces of stones such as marble and granite.
