Sculpture for Dikili - 1st to 31st July, Izmir, Turkey.

Dan was invited to take part in the symposium by the symposium committee led by Mr. Bechet in Dikili and Hasan Fuat Sari, a Turkish sculptor who lives in Finland.

Dikili is a lovely coastal resort on the Aegean sea north of Izmir. It is the centre of a very historic region with many important sites from the Hellenistic period such as the amazing mountain top city of Bergammon a short distance inland from Dikili.

Dan made a work in granite from the quarries in the massif inland from Dikili entitled  'Far Away Places, Distant People'.
Height 3 metres x 6 metres x 4 metres.

This sculpture is dedicated to the memory of Jaroslav Cerny, Sculptor, from the Czech Republic. 11/10/1950 -  13/7/2006. with whom Dan worked at the Horice International Sculpture Symposium in 2004.
